Hi Guys,
Are there any other good travel apps you use (preferably free)?
Here is my favorite list:
Tripit (http://www.tripit.com) - trip management
Where To Travel Next (http://wheretotravelnext.com) - nice tool for working with google maps and trip planner
TripAdvisor (http://tripadvisor.com) - Things to do
Looking forward for some good tips about them

Your point is?
just a question. I've found some more:
wanderfly (http://www.wanderfly.com/) - travel recommendations
plnnr (http://plnnr.com) - quick trip planning by popular places.
I, for one, would never plan a trip using an app for TripAdvisor.
I very seldom look at this site domestically. Listing Applebee's as a top restaurant in some town or city.
Really, now, come on.
The other 2 sites don't come up. I've tried over 2 days and I keep getting does not exist.
Oh, I'm sorry, my bad. Those addresses for some reason got screwed up.

Rastaguytoday could you tell me why you don't like TripAdvisor? I thought this is a good site if you want to find some places to visit.
Domestically speaking, they are a waste of time. Applebees, who Consumer Reports rated as the worst chain restaurant in America, is a perfect example. Lodging ratings aren't much better, if at all.
Internatonally, some validity, but not much. To me, the average TripAdvisor person has been to one place once and will never return.
I view them mostly as readers of Rick Steeves on beginner guides to travel in a country.
Rastaguytoday - What sites do you recommend for lodging and restaurant reviews?
There is no one site that I look at. I've done a lot (maybe too much) traveling both internationally and domestically.
Here's an example: I spent 2 weeks + 2 weeks in Toledo, Ohio several years ago.
I called up local websites and looked for restaurant reviews in the local paper. From there I looked at menus and pricing.
From an SF Bay Area point of view, I didn't think I'd find many good restaurants in Toledo. But, by the time I was through, I found 5-6 that would be more than adequate.
I also look at books like Fodors or Frommers for ideas.
I diligently stay away from chain restaurants, for the most part. The exception would be a chain that I've never heard of, or might have interesting and different food.
Internationally, there are many gudes and ratings listed. I frequently use Gayot, mainly to get a sense of certain restaurants, and to read their restaurant reviews.
In Taiwan, I close my eyes and hope for the best, usually a restaurant that is, for the most part, English speaking.
In both Singapore and Taiwan, there is almost nothing but fish. I like fish, but not for every course.
