I am looking to book a rental car for a trip in October and noticed the rates at Dollar are much less than some of the other major rental car companies. It's a company I've never used. I guess the difference is enough that I wanted to hear from some people who had used them regarding their experiences (good or bad). Thanks!

You don't say what city you are renting from. Try making a bid on Priceline. Bid $1 per day less than Dollar and see what company you get. I have not had much problem with any car rental company except Fox.
My last bid for an economy car in Las Vegas was $14/day. I got a brand new Mazda2 from Alamo/National for 2 weeks.
My best bud has tried it and said it was okay. Not too fancy but good enough for a car rental. Price is justifiable. Service is great. All in all, you can trust them somehow.
tomfuller. Thank you for the recommendation on Priceline. I haven't used it for that purpose. We will be in Jackson, WY. We will not be "in the city" where getting things taken care of if there are troubles is easy, so we need to make sure it's good and reliable!
I've rented from Dollar bunches of times - Denver, New Orleans, and San Diego for sure, and I am sure I've rented from them other places too. Never had a problem.
I've used Dollar a lot (especially in Tulsa, Oklahoma) and have not had problems; in fact, it's really my preferred company in many places.
I just had an unfortunate experience with Avis, where I was charged a lot more than I expected because I was an hour late, even though I'd been charged for the full day and returned the car before the office in New Haven closed. So go figure.
I've used Dollar and had no problem. I always read comments that the "best" rentals are Hertz and Avis, but they also cost twice as much - so I end up going with Dollar, Thrifty and Alamo and have never been disappointed.
Thanks! We are going with Dollar. Everyone's views seem to be similar and the closest comparison is about $120 more expensive for the week! Appreciate the feedback, and I will let everyone know how it goes. The only disadvantage is that it isn't located at the airport in Jackson, WY...but for the price difference, we will work with it!
