Does A Place For Us Exist?

Jump to last reply

We have a tough vacation challenge... we would like to travel over the the winter holidays with our two sons in their 20's, and the girlfriend of one of our sons, so we'll be a party of 5 total. However, we're all looking for different things -- coming from the frigid midwest, I want warm weather and would be very happy laying on a beach or poolside pretty much anywhere for a week. Our kids, however, like more urban environments with good restaurants, music, culture, history, etc. and refuse to go to an A/I-type resort area. My hubby would be happy either way, but wants to do this on a fairly tight budget for that time of year (which I think would rule out Hawaii).

So... does anywhere exist that has it all? We've been to Zihuatanejo without the kids and love it there, but are not sure whether the town would keep them interested for a week. Maybe a destination closer to Mayan sites? I was also thinking perhaps San Juan or Belize but don't know too much about those areas.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
