I'm thinking of purchasing some wine skins so I can bring back wine from my next trip.

I use these wineholders that I have gotten from Target,TJ MAXX or Marshalls that are made out of the same material as a wetsuit(used in scubadiving). I bring wine home from Europe almost everyweek and have had wonderful luck using these. I just wrap them in plastic after putting them in the holders and they are good to go. Cost is about $12.00 for a double holder that you can use over and over again.

Doesn't the stuff they're made out of change the taste of the wine?

I would not think so as they would in theory only be used for the duration of a flight, then be removed. I wouldn't use for storage.

You wrap them in them-its a wine holder so there is nothing ruining the wine. You can buy single bottle or double bottle ones. Off to India for two weeks........

Just bought some more for Christmas gifts at my local Tuesday Morning store-doubles are $12.49.They even are carrying a "triple holder" along with "single bottle". They are made by NY BUILT. I also use the individual small ones to carry my Starbucks bottle coffee to work to drink overseas in my hotel room-my help to overcome jet lag after a night over the pond!

Are they cheaper than bubble wrap and plastic bags?

Yes, because you can reuse them over and over. They are made out of the wet suit material ie."skins" in different colors and really keep the wine bottles from breaking in the suitcases. They also now use the same material in lunch bags,beer holders,etc.

Ira-one must ALWAYS have their skins laying flat in their suitcase "ready to go" when traveling. I also have my Monoprix 6 section/bottle wine carrier that I use at all the grocery stores that I purchase from in Europe.

Bubblewrap-bad for the environment. Kinda like the Saran Wrap that they use to wrap suitcases overseas?
