Best Travel Portal Software/System?

I want to open an online travel agency, much like Travelocity or Yahoo Travel, Orbitz, etc.... I am having a hard time finding a portal I can use.... I do not want an affiliate to Orbits etc., I want the flexibility and be able to design my own site and put in the menus and portals to cruises, flights, vacations, etc....

I have heard of a few, but none of them seem to be great, like touristway.com doesnt link with the hotels/airlines/cruises, etc... YTB is great with good discounts but their interface is theri web site and cannot do anything to change it... I have heard of polar online and one source, but still not convinced.... anyone have any experience with this stuff?

Thanks!

How in the world do you plan to complete with Orbitz, Travelocity and Yahoo?

Ok, dont worry about my "competing with" any of the major players... I'm not an idiot, and I have other plans for this... I simply need an app or provider like YTB who allows me to customize the UI to what I want for SEO and design. If you dont know or dont understand what I am asking, dont worry about it or how I will succeed with this. If you know of such a service or app, I am all ears. Thanks in advance to someone who has useful info.

The fact that you are posting this question here is hardly confidence inspiring. Obviously you have not been around this forum much, as almost no one reads this "Travel Tips" branch. As for me not being able to "understand" the question...

Dear me, another entry on my "don't bother to answer" list...

Wow... another typical territorial response in a small pond, sorry to have disturbed it... a simple non-response, or a "try this site/section...." would have been nice... and ya suze, I didnt accuse YOU of not understanding, I said IF you dont, please work on your reading comprehension before accusing anyone of anything... if you do understand then obviously that statement didnt apply to you, make sense? and ya thursday, way to define paradox... what a helpful post you have managed, dont worry, u didnt answer anything except waste another 2 seconds of my time... Unbelievable... and we wonder why this world has gone to &%^&$#&&$ when someone cant even get a straight answer to a straight question for some research. It wouldnt be called RESEARCH if we all had the sources and answers already! I've had some people be "slightly" more helpful on some other forums anyways, people who understand how to help others and answer a question. Take care all.

Harsh words for a person with one post on Fodor's. And not even asking for a "travel tip" at that. You might want to give us the chance of helping you with travel information or trip planning before you write off this forum. Mine is not a 'territorial response from a small pond', sheez. I just thought yours was a strange question is all.

He didn't do that much better elsewhere, either. A little google turns up just one '"slightly" more helpful' response. At least we did him the courtesy of answering - more than he got at Lonely Planet, for instance. But really, do you want someone with that attitude sticking around?

Nah. But I really was curious about the idea, how he was planning to complete with the 'big boys' of middleman travel booking that he mentioned.
