Best Route From Kansas City, MO to Santa Rosa, California
Hi,
Leaving for Santa Rosa, Ca in four weeks. I'm traveling solo, so I don't really want to go through Wyoming (boring). Is there a better route that will give some scenery?

It appears to me that you can get on I-70 in Kansas City and get all the way through Colorado, then when 70 ends in Utah go up to Salt Lake City then I-80 all the way to the Bay Area. Depending on your definition of "boring" it's pretty hard to avoid some of it getting to the west coast from Missouri. West out of SLC is flat until Reno so unless you'd like to take a detour through Idaho and Oregon you may have to suffer for a day.

classic.mapquest.com Denver maybe up to Estes Park
stanleyhotel.com if Time in not and/orn www.gobreck.com
right off the superslab Grand Junction Moab Arches NP SLC
up to Tahoe or down to St George/ZION Vegas death valley
Lone Pine yosemite.com Santa Rosa for more neat stops
Very entertaining route from personal experience
Happy Planning!

Welcome to Fodors SRSojourner. You'll get many more responses if you re-post on the United States board. This one is more for general travel discussions, not destination-specific/route-specific questions.
Very few folks read/respond to this forum but MANY post on the USA board.
