All-in-One Universal Plug Adapter?

There are some threads like "power adapters for Kenya/Africa/Greece/Italy etc, but i didn't find a topic about this kind of All-in-One Universal plug Adapter amzn.to/2eH7NE4, is it new product in recently years? i need to go abroad for business trip sometimes and thinking to prepare a power adapter, so i can charge my iphone, kindle, tablet at the same time. This outlet looks nice and I understand it's just a plug adapter instead of voltage converter, is voltage converter also must-have? is it safe?

Have you tried universal power adapter before? Any suggestions for brands? Personal experience would be great.

Not new -- I've had one for years. I rarely use mine, because it is larger and heavier than I prefer, and I usually want more outlets than it would give me. JMO.

IME, voltage converters are only useful if you have old electric appliances -- most current ones work with the electrical systems of most countries. BUT I would never travel anywhere without confirming that MY appliances will work in the places I plan to visit.

Perhaps others have better information.

I agree. They seem like a good idea because they cover all the bases, but in reality there are two big cons: size/weight; and the fact that what you really want is a few adapters and not just one.

I usually go on Amazon and get a handful--like, 6--cheap adapters for the country my SO and I are visiting. That way, we can leave both our phones plugged in and charging, say, while I use my hair straightener.

Once, we had one die on us, and were glad we had some spares.

I've used one for years, for travel in Europe, South America, and here in the US/Canada. It has worked great, and is not fiddly. The 2 USB ports and one outlet are just what I need. Not in stock at Amazon at the moment:

Thanks very much for your tips, after checking the description again, this plug adapter is only 113g light-weight and 65*55*50mm small-size, maybe it's not a big problem now.

Hi elberko, thank you for the link, the two items look very similar, so i guess i could give it a try now.

I recently purchased this charger: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Most of my stuff only requires a USB charger so, with 4 USB ports it can charge four items at once. It has two 2.4watt points for tablets etc. and two lower speed points for phones etc. Charges very quickly, is very light and all comes in a handy, compact zipped bag.

Have been using it for the last 2 months and am very pleased with it.

I've been using one of these for the last 2 years:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00210MRGC/
It's light, small, and packs flat. Works everywhere.

I would buy just an adapter for the country you plan to visit, and a spare in case you lose one. If you need to charge several small devices at a time you may want to bring a power strip for US plugs (assuming you are from the US), then plug that into the outlet with the adapter. That works well for phone, iPad, laptop & camera chargers because they don't use much power. Don't overload it by plugging in a hair dryer, though.

This website shows different plug types: http://www.worldstandards.eu/electri...s-and-sockets/

You can get away with a Type C adapter for most European countries, while in the British Isles you will need a Type G. Check specifically for other countries around the world.

The chargers on your devices will have the power requirements written on them. If they say 100-240V 50/60Hz you can use them anywhere without a voltage converter.
