6 month rock climbing trip-where to go?

I'm planning a 6 month rock climbing trip leaving in October (actually 2 people not solo). Considering doing North America and South America, just North America (including central america), or an around the world fare and visit 5 or more different countries.

Here are some questions I need answered:

What are the least expensive cities in South America to fly into and out of? What about Central America? Europe? Asia?

Would it be less expensive to fly round-trip between the United States and South America? Or between Central America and South America?

If someone were to travel to various countries in South America , should he/she learn a language, if so, which one? How about in Central America? Europe? Asia?

Is it necessary to learn a language?

What kind of transportation is available between and within countries in South America? In Central America? Asia? Europe?

Are there any land transportation barriers in Central or South America that travelers should be aware of?

What kind of cheap accommodations or camp sites are available in South America? Central America? Europe? Asia?

Would costs of food and transportation within North America, within Central America, between Europe and Asia, or within South America be cheapest?

What form should money be carried in when traveling internationally?

What should be done to be prepared for emergencies, financially?

What kinds of tariffs or taxes could be inflicted upon foreign travelers within South American and Central American countries?

Are there tax implications or rule about selling US goods in Central America? What would be the case if someone drove a car to Central America and sold it there?

What challenges do you see financially for someone traveling within Central America or South America? Elsewhere in the world, such as Europe? Asia?

Any response is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Also, if anyone is an experienced rock climber, I have some more questions. Thanks.

What locations have you visited for rock climbing world wide?

Which were your favorites and why?

What international travel advice do you have for fellow rock climbers?

How do you keep your trips on a low budget?

If you could go to any location you haven’t climbed at, where would you go and why?

this is not exactly the place to ask those questions. i would recommend that you cross list in different forums for your answer. the traveling in the americas vs RTW, do your research and check with thorntree.lonelyplanet.com and the other place i would recommend is the rock climbing forums. the questions are too general and too specialized. DO YOUR RESEARCH on your own as well. once you have a more specific question, then you might get more answers as the travel date approaches.

Katjhil - You're asking for WAY MORE information than anyone is reasonably going to be able to answer. You need to do some preliminary research first.

A few ideas:

Use Expedia or Orbitz to getting flight pricing for different destinations. If you have more than one airport easily available for departure, try them all. Costs will vary between departing airlines as much as between arrival airlines.

Do some searches on the different boards (i.e., Central & South America, Europe, Asia, etc.) for info on lodging and language. Read through the posts first and then ask questions that are more specific so that folks can actually answer.

Check other sites that cater more to lower end travel (i.e., ThornTree) as Fodors caters to a higher end traveler.

Talk to some fellow rock climbers for their experiences, etc. If you're not that new to rock climbing, listen carefully to their warnings.

Look into your current health insurance and/or travel insurance for your trip. That much rock climbing could require medical attention at some point. You want to make sure you will be able to get it if you need it.

Put some of these questions through google and read through the tons of results you get. The answers are there, you just have to be willing to look for them.

If both you and your companion split these questions between the two of you and do the research yourselves, you'll have the answers twice as fast.

It is not necessary to learn a language, but it is helpful and appreciated. In some places more important than others.

As above, your question is too broad.

Go to Lonely Planet's website forum The Thorn Tree for backpacker around the world advice.

Forums are incredibly helpful but you need to narrow it down for where you are going, etc. etc. No sense us making recommendations in Mexico, if you are going to Thailand!

Rock climbing is fairly specific, and I am guessing there are better forums than this to get the info you need.
