Hello all
My wife and I are about 2 weeks away from buying a trip to Brazil. We would like to go during Carnival but if not we'll wait until March. My only problem is I don't know how to choose which city to go to. I don't want to pick a city just because it's the name I've heard the most. The posts and comments I've been reading here seem to be really helpful.
We're both 31 and newly married. We do the basic things that people like to do on vacation. We site see during the day, we love to try different foods and we're night owls.
I would love to see the historical places, artifacts or architecture. I'm sure no matter where we go there will be a variety of restaurants. It would be one big plus for us if our hotel is in walking distance of the night life.
The only cities I hear people talk about or see on TV are Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
Am I over thinking this? should I choose a place that has good reviews and just go?
I hope this makes some sense. Any advise is appreciated.
Happy Holidays

Impleo, can I suggest that you borrow from the library or buy a guide-book to help you decide where to go? For preliminary planning Eyewitness guides are quite good because they are very well illustrated, they aren't as good as guides like Lonely Planet or Fodors once you are actually there.
Once you have done some research you will have a better sense of where would suit your tastes and interests, rather than as you say relying on television and so forth.
