That is a similar, but older one. The one yestravel is talking about had links to many more TRs and was current.

Now you know who is going to have that one deleted too, I guess.

That happened recently, but by popular demand it was replaced.

So, I suggest everyone who feels it was useful write to forums@fodors.com asking that it be replaced.

The Fodor's editor's name is Katie.

I am an inveterate Fodors reader and poster, primarily on the Argentina Forum. I have been honored by having some of my reports or suggestions quoted in Fodors travel books.

I also request that the editor, Katie, please replace the removed thread that AVRooster started a few years ago with excellent Trip Reports on ARG. That was a very useful thread for Fodorites, and I hope that it will be restored.

i too have been looking for that thread

I don't think Katie has been at Fodors for quite some time -- she went off on Maternity leave months ago (I think more than a year back) and I haven't seen any posts by her in ages.

There are master threads on all the forums - IME a thread doesn't get pulled just because it is a list of links. There must be more to the story.

But the way to find out what happened/why is to e-mail whoever is editing now -- forums@fodors.com

I have also been looking for that thread and hope that Katie's replacement will find a way to get it restored. Thanks.

I do agree with the above posters that avrooster's thread with TRs from other forums was quite helpful for fodorites.

I feel your reference to "a pretty nasty streak" is quite an understatement. LOL!!!

I find it very useful to find an area with multiple trip reports. I am researching a trip to Hawaii and am finding it hard to find all the trip reports. That was not the case when I started researching Argentina several years ago. avrooster kindly offered a one stop shop. It would be interesting if someone would explain why they don't allow that convenience anymore.

I emailed the editors and asked just that and got no reply.

It would also be interesting if "someone" said: "I'm the one who objected to it".

But THAT ain´t gonna happen, IMHO.

Amy_D sent me an e-mail saying the thread was removed "due to a violation of the Fodors.com Guidelines about ADVERTISING AND SELF PROMOTION" (I added the capital letters).

Her e-mail also said "COMMERCIAL SOLICITATION is not allowed and these posts are removed."

UNBELIEVABLE, as far as I am concerned.

Does anyone feel the removed thread contained "advertising and self-promotion" or "commercial solicitation" of any kind whatsoever?

And would the "Advertising and Self Promotion" be for? Each individual person who wrote a report? It is myriad of people posting their TRs. One could stretch it and say there is solicitation for traveling to ARG. Crazy, huh? Perhaps I am linking unrelated events and motives together, but wasn't there an accusation similar to that once before elsewhere???

Maybe they think that avrooster owns Tripdadvisor (lol)! or maybe they just don't like TA being promoted on their site? Either way it does seem a bit petty.

And TA does not like Fodors (or AV Rooster) promoted on their site. A recent post in which I credited AV of Fodors Fame as the source of my information regarding where to shop for boots was deleted muy pronto.
