Weight limits on LATAM airlines

Please help!!! We are traveling on a tour to Chile - Argentina - Brazil in 3 days. Our travel documents from GATE ! Travel indicate that there is a 33lb weight limit - only from Chile. I've checked the airlines website and it isn't clear about the weight limits. It indicates that the primary airline - which would be Delta for us - takes precedents over LATAM. I've read on this forum that weight limits aren't enforced on some other airlines in S America but I can't find anything about LATAM.. Does anyone have any information about this. We are 4 ladies traveling for over 3 weeks and we are concerned. Thank you

Where did they get the 33 lbs? That would only be about 14 kilos. Luggae allowance on LATAM is 23 kilos in economy. That's 50 lbs. You can have 2 suitcases but that must be the total weight of both together. Here's the page:

I flew on LATAM within Argentina, and I know I was overweight, but nothing was said. I wouldn't worry about it.

I assume the weight limit is from GATE 1 travel documents? I wonder if they bought tickets in a way that doesn't entitle you to the normal allowance, i.e., are they using some smaller charter planes or buses that might require other limits.

I would be careful with assuming you're allowed more without getting it in writing from GATE 1.

Or they did the math wrong converting kilograms to lbs?

as far as airline baggage is concerned, it doesn't really matter what Gate 1 say. It is the airlines rules that count. It is 23 kg for Latam. Airlines in South America don't seem to care much either for checked or cabin bags. It is probably more to do with space in the hold of the buses they use.

The only time anyone has paid much attention is on the smaller planes flying in and out of the jungle in bolivia where passengers were weighed along with their bags - which has always seemed eminently sensible to me

I have had LATAM agents at LAX weigh my checked luggage and seen them charging for overweight at that end. As a matter of fact I've always had LAN/LATAM weigh my luggage. Even the roll-aboard I normally carry on..which can be too large and heavy to pass scrutiny for domestic flights overseas. When it's too big they tell me it needs to be checked. So I have a small backpack/duffle that I keep for carry on duty. Last year LATAM had suddenly decided they would allowed only one piece of checked luggage and I wound up sticking the roll-aboard inside an old fashioned suitcase so I'd later have a smaller second suitcase on the road! There were some funny looks/comments when on checkout from a remote N. Peru lodge I had acquired a second suitcase!

That 23 kg seems less than previously allowed. It used to be 72 pounds on TAM iirc.

Maybe less than previous, because since the merger everything is cost cutting..meals, luggage allowances, etc.
