Hola - planning a week in BA in Feb and at the moment planning to stay in city for 4 nights and then... don't know! Should we do 1 or 2 nights in Iguazu Falls, or go to Punta del Este for 2 nights... Going to either of those locations do we have to deal with changing airports, if we time it at the end of our week arriving back in BA in time for our evening flight back to states? If so is this a hassle or time consuming? What types of activities are 'must do' in Iguazu. Where to stay? In Punta has anyone stayed at the Estancia Vik which is outside in town called Jose Ignacio I believe. Also one last question - favorite restaurants in BA. Sorry for the multitude of questions, and do appreciate any thoughts you all might have!...
week in BA and...?

I have not been to Punta del Este, but Iguazu Falls is a not to miss destination in Argentina. The Falls are fantastic. If u stay at the Shearton you have easy access to the Falls and can go take breaks in your room to cool off...its a jungle and feels like it. There are places in town to stay that are less money. There are several circuits at the Falls that you can walk, u can take a shuttle tram to visit Devil's throat, take a boat ride back, an island to explore, boat trips under the Falls and a variety of other possible activiites to keep you occupied. Some people go over to the Brzilian side which requires a Visa.
The flights to and from the Falls leave from the Jorge Newberry Airport. International flights to the States depart from EZE so you would need to change airports. I would think if you took a morning flight back to BA from IF u would have plenty of time to make an evening plane from EZE, assuming no flight cancellations or significant delays. For reliability fly LAN.
Enjoy your trip!
As usual, I agree with YESTRAVEL. Iguazzu Falls is spectacular - and I say that having also been to Niagra and Victoria Falls.
If you love beaches, and beach speaks 'holiday' for you, then Punta del Este is reportedly an excellent choice - albeit pricey.
Regardless of which trip you choose, I suggest that you go a day earlier and return to BsAs for your last day - perhaps in a hotel in a different barrio than the first - and enjoy your last day in BsAs with no airline connection worries or concerns.
Have a great trip, ~MarnieWDC
great advice from you both- many thanks! think we will opt for the falls, and do it at beginning of trip, then settle down to see BA for the rest of our week.
