Typhoid vaccine for Argentina
My husband and I are going on a Cycling the Wine Country of the Andes, which includes Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Portillo in Argentina and then Santiago and Santa Cruz in Chile. CDC recommends typhoid vaccine. Our trip is 10 days in total.
Anyone really get the typhoid vaccine for travel to these areas?

Here is a link to the UK NHS website

This effectively says that it is SOMETIMES advised for Argentina. Personally, thypoid is one of those vaccinations that I keep up to date as I travel a lot sometimes to very remote places and thyphoid can be contracted anywhere where there is poor food hygeine (although to be fair, the vaccination is free here in the UK!)

if you are going to be eating a lot of local food
especially street food it is wise...otherwise not needed.
Happy Journey,

Yes, probably unnecessary IF you eat carefully. On the other hand my worst intestinal illness of all my visits to Central and South America was in Santiago, Chile, where in theory you can drink the water!
If you have any intestinal upset that lasts more than a day or two be sure to at least visit a pharmacist. If you are going to be in remote areas you might want to bring some appropriate antibiotics.

I lived in Argentina for over 3 months never even considered any shots.. you dont need them unless your going to the Amazon. Food is legit there also. Argentina is not like Bolivia where you really have to be careful. If you have a sensitive stomach then boil the water before you drink it or buy bottled water. For food at restaurants no precautions needed. Its not 3rd world in Argentina, I consider it more 2nd world.
Take normal precautions with fruit and cooking like you would in the states. No worries at restaurants
