Fellow fodorites:
After reading many tips on Ecuador/Galapagos trips, my wife and I did the following itinerary:
1) 1 day in Saquisili Market
- Thursday’s only; get there early so you don’t miss the animal market
- photos at: http://www.josevigano.com/saquisili
2) 11 day cruise with Galapagos Travel (http://www.galapagostravel.com/)
I highly recommend them. Excellent service. Friendy and responsive agents here in US. Many positives!!! Other than the amazing wildlife and scenery we enjoyed a lot:
- Quito support (Tania, the hotel)
- the excellent condition boat and its staff
- Elly's energy and Ethiene's knowledge (the boat guide/naturalist)
- J de Roy house was awesome

Let me know if you have any questions,

Jose,
thank you for sharing these beautiful photos. I particularly liked the frigate birds and the blue-footed boobies dancing.
Cheers,
Pol.
What a photographer you are. The swimming penguin, the rays, you even made a people shot interesting in the sunset. Fantastic!
Tania's still there! She helped me out back in 2000 with a flight problem.
Thanks Jose.
Amazing pictures – what time of the year did you go? Did you snorkel at all, how was the water temperature?
Thanks
Great photos. Thanks!
Thanks everybody for the compliments on the photos!!!
XYX99:
Our trip was on the last 2 weeks of June (2009). We did snorkeling every day. Sometimes twice a day. The snorkeling was good, specially the opportunities with dolphins, turtles and sea lions. There are no coral reefs though but you'll see lots of fishes and if you're lucky sharks also. The water was not super clear because this time of the year a cold plankton rich current flows through the islands (good for the fishes and birds). We were comfortable with a 3mm neoprene suit.
Cheers,
Jose

Jose,
Did Galapagos Travel provide the neoprene suits, or did you have to have your own?
Thanks
Thanks for sharing ... your photos of the blue-footed boobies validates our reason for delaying our Galapagos trip for a few years until we can go during the latter part of June.
XYZ99:
Galapagos Travel did not provide the neoprene suits. I believe they had some spare ones in the boat but they recommend you to bring your own. I think this is a better option also so you get something that fits well. You can get a=good ones for $100 here in CA.
