Travel to Venezuela (Kanaima, Roraima)

How safe is travel to Venezuela these days ? After browsing some tour operators, I got an impression that many companies that used to offer tours there, stopped doing that.
Also, to visit Angel waterfalls and Roraima, would you recommend an organized tour, or to hire local guides ?
