Taxi SCAM leaving Buenos Aires port?
I saw this post http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showp...64&postcount=1 on cruisecritic.com and am wondering if anyone can verify it.
If it is true, how would one avoid it? With a pre-arranged remis?
avrooster, if you spot this thread, I'd sure like your thoughts too. Thanks.

Yes, Orlando_Vic, I had heard of this, but I believed the price charged was even higher, like 50 dollars.
Yes, I would imagine a pre-arranged "remise" could be one way to avoid this.
I never heard of union vs. non-union cabs. I would call them taxis related to the "cruceros mafia".
Maybe you have read that we always suggest hiring a "remise" to avoid the cabs waiting in line at our AEP local airport. It is because they are part of the "AEP mafia".

Concerning the Cruise Critic poster's suggestion to "Demand that an employee in the port call the Police to report this illegal activity.", it is difficult to understand how, if she lives here (but sounds like an American), she can be so naive, as the "Prefectura" (port police) members are most certainly paid off to allow this.

Many thanks, AV. I had a feeling you might know. I will take the appropriate precautions on my cruise next year. For your information, here is the entire thread: http://boards.cruisecritic./showthre...3#post28028823
