Hi,
We are flying into Rio in Dec. We are also taking an internal flight to Igauzu Falls, so will be traveling back and forth to the airport (3 trips). Does anyone know approximate taxi or hotel shuttle fare? Is it per person or by the ride? Thanks for your feedback!

There are two airports in Rio: Aeroporto International Antonio Carlos Jobim (known as Galeao) and Aerporto Santos Dumont. Santos Dumont is closer to Copacabana than Galeao. If you take a taxi the cheaper fare is with a regular taxi, not the radio taxi. The fare is by the ride and depends on traffic conditions and time of day (extra for after 8 or 9 PM). We paid between 30 and 50 real, depending on the time and the airport. For details see:

...have visited this lovely city quite a bit within the past six years. I've always taken taxis from both the domestic and international airports to the hotels. The rate is approximately R$70 which is almost $35.00.
Due to the poor rate of the US dollar-- it should be slightly increased. Get taxi's via the women in the booths. You'll use metered taxis and honest ones.
