Some Nature/Bird Lodges in Colombia
I may be visiting some of the following lodges in December, wonder if any of our Fodor's birders have any feedback or have stayed there.
(And just in case one of my favorite posters needs some ideas)
Cerulean Warbler Reserve
Otun Qumbaya, Otun Lodge
Montezuma Farmhouse near Tatama NP
Hotel Minca for
El Dorado Lodge near Tayrona
Rio Claro (I am not sure which hotel)
In Bogota he has us at Hotel The Grace. Most of the other locations eg Bucamaranga, San Vicente de Chucuri, Murillo, Manizales, Baranquilla, are either not yet specified "or similar).

Mlgb, assume you saw my "back to Mexico and Colombia" report from 2015. We've stayed at both Hotel Minca and El Dorado Lodge twice now. Rooms at Hotel Minca are very basic. Hotel is crumbling "charm". Great breakfast porch with amazing hummingbird feeders. The hotel always seems in a state of flux. New mgrs, maybe meals, maybe not. But probably one of the best places in Minca and very centrally located in town, yet apart from the hubbub.
El Dorado has nicer rooms, better food and service. Good birding, though we didn't see as much second time as first. Lots of good hiking from both.
We spent 3 nights at Otun Quinbaya on that last trip. Again very basic rooms. Ok
Park cafeteria food. Didn't see all that much there, but just luck of draw, and we were often without a guide.

El Dorado lodge is more expensive but worth it IMO. The money goes for a very good cause. We were planning to stay 2 nights and extended it by another night. You may see less variety of birds but many are pretty special. We saw about 60 species in 3 days but 5 or 6 were endemics. It rained one of the days (in October). The views are gorgeous and the food and hospitality are wonderful.

H az3.. Would you have a trip report?..I am thinking to go with Road Scholar on a birding tour of Colombia this winter since they are taking a grand of their price due to messing up my planned Galapagos trip in 2015.
