Trying to help my best friend plan her honeymoon for August 2013. Dream trip is to ski in South America (Argentina likely). Any leads for great mountains, resorts that are super nice but not too expensive??? Any advice really would be awesome. They are on a budget. Thanks!

Value is difficult to define, at this time in our country.
See my post: A successful search for a BA "parrilla de barrio"
We all wish your best friend has wonderful honeymoon in our country.
There are many good ski resorts in Chile and Argentina. Santiago has 4 resorts which can be visited as day trips. Ushuaia in Argentina has the southernmost skiing on the continent. Portillo is all inclusive and one of the oldest resorts in South America. There is a lot of choice. Bariloche has skiing.

Skiing is not a cheap pastime in either country but there are always cheaper days midweek. It depends on whether they want to stay at the resort or travel there each day, in the case of Santiago.
TRy www.chileanski.com there you can find all the ski resorts in Chile, I would still call and see if they have better rates or once you have made your choice search the web for discounts.

Make sure to monitor how the weather is doing..... Snow can be an issue at places like Las Lenias and Bariloche. Sadly, the climate has been playing games with the Argentine resorts lately, at least with the more traditional ones like Las Lenias, Bariloche and San Martin de los Andes.
