Sao Paulo Airport Taxi Help
Arriving this Sunday morning and need to get transportation from International airport to hotel:
Hilton Sao Paulo Morumbi
Av. das Nacoes Unidas, 12901
Are taxis reliable? Are there any particular companies that are sanctioned or licensed? Is there a safer way to do this? Thought I read somewhere about prepaying taxi? Is this advisable?
Checked with Hilton and they wanted R$450 to transport us which seemed excessive.
Never been to SP so would appreciate guidance from the group.

When you exit the international terminal there's a counter just outside to order cabs, you prepay there. They are totally reliable. It's a long way from the airport to the city. I can't remember how much the fare is but it's certainly not R$45. I think it's roughly $50-70 AUD, so about the same in US dollars.

late follow on from the above for anyone else who happens to see this post. Be aware that sometimes international credit cards do not work at all businesses in Brazil - I had this problem when trying to pay at the Guarucoop desk last November, and later on in the same trip at a Restaurant in Rio. The same applies to ATM's, some money machines do not allow you to withdraw cash although they're displaying the Visa/Mastercard logo etc.
The last time I travelled to Sao Paulo a colleague booked a transfer for me with Sao Paulo Airport Transfers. They're more upmarket than the standard taxi, and provided the usual service like meet and greet, better car etc. The price wasn't much more than with Guarucoop and worth it given that I got stuck in traffic on the return journey from my hotel - the more comfortable vehicle was a Godsend.
