salkantay trek

Hi,

I plan to do the salkantay trek in May (or June) on my own, to MP.

May I ask please, where do I need to buy the entry ticket to MP and to its two summits?

Do I need to buy it in advance?

Thank you.

Hello

You can get your ticket online with VISA at the Peruvian Ministry of Culture's website http://www.machupicchu.gob.pe/ where you have an option to choose with Machu Picchu mountain , and Huayna Picchu mountain. If you're planning to climb to both mountains, you need to get 2 tickets, 1 Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu, 2 Machu Picchu + Machu Picchu Montaña. And also if you're planning to climb to these summits, i suggest you to book your tickets a.s.a.p, as the tickets become SOLD OUT in days, so people book their tickets with 4 months in advance at least.

Cheers|

Hi,
Thank you very much for the information.

I don't know exactly on which day I'll start the trek, and on which day I'll get to Machu Picchu.

I thought that you can buy a ticket to Machu Picchu just a few days before, unless you wanna do the Inca Trail which requires booking in advance.

Are you sure that I cannot buy the entry ticket to MP and to its two summits a few days earlier before leaving Cusco to the starting point of the trek?

Hi

You're welcome. You can get your ticket just for Machu Picchu some days in advance in Cusco, but you want with both summits, so.. summits are very requested from all over the world, and become SOLD OUT quickly. The option Machu Picchu + Machu Picchu Montaña you may find in Cusco at ticketing office, but with Huayna Picchu mountain it's hard to find, or just take a look the Peruvian Ministry of Culture's website above looking for Huayna Picchu option and after 3 hours later take a look again the same option, and you'll see how quick the tickets go away. Besides, tickets for Machu Picchu are limited to 2500 a day, and between May to September is high tourist season, where Machu Picchu gets over 3500 people. So be careful, get your ticket in advance

Good Luck

if you use the website mentioned above it will tell you how many tickets are left for MP. I would advise keeping and eye on your prospective dates to make sure you are not disappointed.

Thank you Crellston and Touradvisor!

From what I read, you can reach aguas calientes the night before the trip to MP, and buy tickets for the next day, isn't that correct?

I plan to do it in May.
