Salkantay to Machu Picchu in 4 or 5 days ?
we were planning incatrail for for this july , but Incatrail seams ful til 12 august ,,,
Than friend told us that they used Southamericaplanet travel agent in Cusco for a Salkantay. I was looking on internet and did found many agencys that offer the 5 days but not so many who do the 4 days Salkantay what can replace the 4 days incatrail. Southamericaplanet told me that they do the 4 days to avoid the tourist, because this trek is becomming popular, and that on the 5 days you have to walk along a road day 1 and day 4 on the 5 days tour you walk only 2 h, Thats why they reduce to 4 days, they drive further by car on day 1 and they do day 3 a longer day walking. Who have experiance in this trekking, what look very nice .

Can't help with Salkantay trek as we didn't do it. We decided against the usual Inca trail as we felt it may be too crowded. Instaead we when by train to MP from Ollantaytambo. We got to Olly by trekking from Lares and this was one of the best decisions we made during our time in Peru. A link to our TR:
