Route of the Seven Lakes drive

Hello friends,

I've had lots of fun and learned so much through my original post about our broader trip in March 2017 (Uruguay and Argentina). But now I have some very specific questions about our five nights in/around Bariloche and driving the Route of the Seven Lakes. I'll be doing the driving and wonder if we want a car for all days (arriving in the evening and leaving mid-afternoon five days later) or only some of them.

First off, I'm struggling to find a good driving map. I've read lots of info on how to drive/towns to see, but none of them seem helpful until I can see it all on a map. When we've driven in Europe in the past we've used Michelin maps for route planning and also purchased the Europe maps for our Garmin. Can anyone recommend a map they liked (which I could purchase online) or an online resource for this?

I'm also looking for advice on where to stay--either someplace outside of Bariloche or, alternatively, more than one place scattered along this drive? We'd also wanted to possibly play golf at Llao Llao, sail across the lake, visit Colonia Suiza, ride bikes at Circuito Chico (just some of the things we've read about).

Open to any and all suggestions so that we can start to sketch out a plan for this leg of our trip.

I Googled "plano de Bariloche y alrededores" and found any number of maps.

We drove that route a few years ago before the road was apparently upgraded. We relied upon the map in our guidebook plus one we picked up from the Tourist Info centre in San Martin. We rented our car from Hertz who also handed us a map.

Nowawadays I find it easier to down load the google or apple map of the region to my phone and save the route An stopping points and then us te phone as a sat nav.

With the hew road I think it takes a lot less time to drive that route so you could just stay in San Martin de Los Andes , one of my favourite towns in Argentina. Worth staying a night just for local speciality lamb asados!

We arrived in Bariloche during spring break without a reservation and there was no room at any inn. After much searching we ended up staying in what I was convinced was and old people's rest home - terrifying glimpse into to future

Thanks! Googling plano de Bariloche y alrededores was the ticket. Entering "Route of the Seven Lakes Argentina' did not yield one map (except for the images results, which were not helpful), only descriptions of the route.

Crellston, thinking we may stay in San Martin one night, then drive straight back to fit in some other things we'd like to do closer to Bariloche the next afternoon.
We hadn't planned on spending a night in San Martin and this has me wishing we had another night in this region.

Now I have avrooster's heads up that it's festival time in Bariloche through Tuesday, something we hadn't even thought of. Busy here trying to decide where we'll be on which nights so that we can secure our hotel pronto. They seem to be filling up fast.

It's not just Bariloche, Caseyhen. I suggest avoiding ANY tourism destination during that weekend. Stay in BA.
