Question about entering Chile and Funds.

I plan to travel to Chile in September 2011 and stay until December 2011.. and I was curious if my funds were a bit low.. would they deny my entry into the country? I already have a place to stay (friends and their family). I was curious if anyone had an experience with entering the country and and officials denying entry.. or questioning your funds? How do they go about doing this? For example: If I have a decent sum of money in my bank account.. how would they know?

I am just curious because I am trying to budget my money and I want to make sure after all of this.. that I will be able to enter the country. What questions would they ask before getting my Tourist card? I am a newcomer to Chile and would love some feedback. Thanks!
