We will be arriving in Puru early september for 2 weeks. We were planning to visit Puno and Lake Titicaca, however I have heard there is trouble in the area and tourists have been told to stay away.

Is this still the case? Do we need to cancel lake titicaca?
Protests in Puno, no Lake Titicaca?????

Strikes unrest not uncommon almost annually
quotewright.com always wise for me comp insurance for me
usually Patriot from $1pppd but I always go many ways to
get around the few folks blocking the roads if flexible
TiticacaPeru.com AWESOME for me particularly Taquile a do not
miss for me www.casa-andina.com Private Collection or
www.libertador.com.pe both on their own islands in the lake
away from all the madding strikers crowds...
travel.state.gov Peru always wise to monitor...
Happy Planning,
These were far more serious than the usual, but have been suspended. The new president of Peru should be more sympathetic to the cause.

Hi Simon,
All is quiet now in this area. I visited myself at the end of July. The thing to do is plan a backup activity and check again when you arrive in Peru. Tourist offices and transportation companies (Peru Rail and Cruz del Sur) can give you an update.
Hope that helps!
