Planning Argentina Trip

My wife and I are beginning to plan our trip to Argentina. We've booked air mile reservations from Jan 16 - Jan 31 which gives us 14 nights/15 days. Our original thinking is as follows: 3 nights in Buenos Aires (1 upon landing and 2 before taking off for home), 2 nights at Iguazu Falls, 3 nights in Bariloche,3 nights in El Calafate, and 3 nights in Ushuaia. Is this too much to try to fit into our time? If so, suggestions as to what to drop and then where to add.

Is renting a car in the Bariloche area the easier way to go? Are day trips, hiking trips, boat excursions easy to arrange on our own? Recommendations for local tour operators?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My only comment is that , in my opinion, you are trying to see too much and will spend more time traveling from here to there than actually being there and enjoying the sights sounds and tastes.

We stayed in BA for 10 days with no side trips when we visited the first time.
We moved there a few months later, lived there for 7 years ... I still didn't see or do everything. It is a massive city with millions of people ..

Look at TripAdvisor .. https://tinyurl.com/ydgsfsbg

When I planned my Argentina-Chile trip, which took two months I skipped Ushuaia - why do you want to go there?

I had no trouble enjoying my trip, including Bariloche, without a car - click on my name for my TR.

I just posted this to a different thread on Argentina:

I would recommend three rather than two nights for Iguazu, so you can visit both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides, but that will require a visa for Brazil if you are from the US.

Depending on what time you arrive, can you to straight to Iguazu? Or Ushuaia? Then put BA all at the end. Then you have a little cushion for flight problems.

I thought setting of Usuhuaia was gorgeous, on the Beagle Channel. However were there later in the year when the trees were turning red and there was a dusting of snow on the mountains. A day to drive/cruise along the Beagle Channel and a day for the Tierra del Fuego park should give you a taste.

I found BA less than wonderful. So far my least favorite city in South America. Even Santiago was more interesting. YMMV.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I've been away and wasn't able to work on the planning of our trip. I've already incorporated some of your ideas. Thursdaysd - thanks for your TR. It was very useful to our planning. I do believe we'll not go to Ushuaia as was suggested. Too much in too short a time. I'll get back with anything further as it may arise. Again, thanks all.

Thank you both! The scenery was fabulous - not so enthusiastic about the cities.
