Hello.
I am interested in doing an overnight excursion or very long day-trip from Salta, Argentina to Bolivia. Any recommendations/suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

A long day is suggested better than on overnight, as the scenery there is really beautiful. You can also see Purmamarca, Tilcara and Humahuaca, which are worth to be seen. There is a bus leaving at 5 a.m. from Salta to La Quiaca. make sure to get PUNA caps as soon as you get to a farmacy on the other side of the border in Bolivia. You will need them anytime and at the first headache, pls, take one... The bus comapny is Balut. ANd if you can affrod a private toru you will get a lot of benefits for sure. you will see more.
HAve a great time.

Your mention of Bolivia is vague (do you just want to cross the border for the sake of saying that you've been to Bolivia? is there something specific that you want to see? are you comparing Argentine and Bolivian coca leaves?), so I'll take a stab at an answer. When I was in Salta in March, 2012, I had an excellent driver for a day trip almost to the Bolivian border. Going by private car gives you the possibility, I believe, of covering much of the territory that you're interested in during a single day. My driver, Christoper Canada, is employed by Tastil Travels in Salta, which has an office near the Salta Hotel in Salta. He speaks excellent English and is very companionable. ZZ
Thanks for answering, Angie and Zambezi. I'm an experienced traveller, Zambezi. My interest in considering going to Bolivia while in the northern part of Argentina is out of a deisre to learn about different countries and their cultures. I thank you for your recommendation of Tastil Travels in Salta.
