No problem buying Machu Picchu Tickets! Here's what I did...

Thought I'd post what I did to buy Machu Picchu tickets myself online from the US since I read so many posts about how difficult it is. I used a Chase bank United MileagePlus Explorer Visa card. This is what I did:

1. Called the number on the back of my credit card I'd be using to tell them that I would be making a purchase through a Peru gov't website for tickets to Machu Picchu in the amount of approximately US$100.

2. Followed the various steps on the SPANISH LANGUAGE SITE (not English) by using this website to help me: http://www.therewardboss.com/2013/10/08/how-to-book-machu-picchu-tickets-online-in-only-a-few-minutes/

3. After I put in my credit card info and clicked pay ("pagar"), I received a Visa notification that additional verification was needed. I called the 800 number provided on this page. DO NOT close this window/tab of your browser. The woman affiliated with Visa/Chase could see on her end that I was trying to make this charge. She did something then told me to his "Continue" on that window/tab of my browser that had said additional verification was needed. And voila the charge went through and that was it! I went back to the main webpage, entered my ticket number, and was able to print my tickets. No problem!

Good luck to others in the future - I hope this helps and you're easily able to buy tickets yourself!
