It was our understanding that the opening of the new airport in Quito has been pushed back to February, 2013, can anyone confirm this, please? Thank you!

We are in Quito now and all the locals are telling us that although the new airport is completed, the roads to and from the airport are not. The best estimate that we have been given here is Feb 2014. I would seriously consider coming while the old airport is in use, as the drive to Quito from the new airport is estimated to be at least an hour, and from what we have seen of traffic here, I believe them.
