Need Dinner recommendations for 12 Peru trip

We have 12 people heading to Peru and we will have breakfast and lunch with our tour. I need some good restaurant recommendations for dinner for this large group. We have ages 16-80. We have 5 young men that eat a ton so it's not necessary a "foodie" trip, although we do want to experience all of Peru's cuisines. And we are going to be gone for 2 weeks. I need to make reservations if possible!!! So, something reasonable with a splurge here or there is what I need...I've listed the hotels so you know the areas we will be in. We would love to be able to walk (safely) to dinner if possible, but if there is something amazing, we are happy to uber there. Thanks in Advance!!!

Here is the itinerary

(1) Dinner in Lima (sleep in Mira Flores area). I was thinking of China town???
(2) Dinners in Sacred Valley - staying in Urubamba @ Sol y Luna for 2 nights
(1) Dinners in Agua Caliente - staying at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel
- thinking about Treehouse Restaurant
(2) Dinners in Cusco - will be there Christmas Eve, so I know it will be a special night. Also, it's my mom's birthday and this is her birthday trip...staying at Casa Andina Private Collection Cusco
(2) Dinners in Puno - staying at Libertador Lago Titicaca
(3) Dinners in Paracas - staying at Hotel Paracas.
(1) dinner in Lima before going to airport for late night flight. Maybe the beach area near the airport?

In Miraflores, I would go with Punta Azulejo for terrific seafood. Their large potions should satisfy even the hungriest of your party. Chinatown is not really walkable and is not that impressive anyway.

Your hotel in Puno is on a peninsula quite a way from the city centre so is definitely not walkable ( and Puno is not really the sort of place you would want to wander around anyway) . Puno is not renowned for its food but there are a lot of places around Jirón Lima serving reasonable food. Many could cope with a party of 12 so I would probably just go head there and find somewhere. We needed up eating at a no name Pollo Asado place one night which the Perubpvians do really well and another at a not so good Italian.

Cusco is awash with good restaurants. Fallen angel is an unusual place worth considering. Gaston Acurio's Chicha is good for a celebrations. Greens restaurant maybe.

Another place in Lima I really like, although in Barranco rather than near the airport, is http://lacuadradesalvador.com superb steaks and incredible cocktails.

1. No, not Chinatown. It is downtown, not near Miraflores.
Which hotel in Miraflores, and if you don't mind? Then I might be able to suggest a restaurant nearby. The one recommended by crellston is great for seafood and huge portions. But it is nearly (exclusively) fish and seafood.
I went to this one on a recent visit just because they were open for early dinner and I had a discount coupon and it wasn't bad, plus it has a youngish vibe

If you are not 'foodies' you may want to ignore the usual lists of "best restaurants" as there are now a plethora of $60 to $100 per person spots, but if you want to give that a go for your special meal, this is a good source

http://www.eater.com/maps/best-lima-restaurants

In Cusco I also liked Greens. Cicciolina also seems well-regarded.

In Puno you will probably want to eat at your hotel. Even though I tend not to trust hotel food.

I've had good restaurant recommendations from receptionists at hotels, taxi drivers, and tour guides. Everyone in Peru seems to be passionate about food.

For reservations, I used www.atrapelo.pe, they have a useful search function, user ratings and photos, menus and also you can sometimes you get discounts by booking through them.

Another website for reservations is https://www.mesa247.pe/
No discounts but some restaurants that are not on atrapelo

You may find some places where the group size limits the ability to do online reservations.

But here is one that might work well for your last night

If you don't read Spanish, Google Translate works..

We stayed at the Inkaterra 3 years ago. The restaurants at the hotel were excellent (we had one each of breakfast, lunch and dinner).

Punto Azul on Calle San Martin for seafood is just around the corner from Terra Viva. But don't go there if you have someone who won't do fish/seafood.

You can make reservations online but you may find the most popular times gone, early and late lunch may be available. And you may not be able to do it for 12 online, either. It's perfect for family style and a large group..portions are huge, prices are reasonable.

Here is the location and hours

http://puntoazulrestaurante.com/inde...res-sanmartin/

You can use Mesa247.pe for reservations at other places in Miraflores also. Enter your dates and numbers of diners and see what pops up. After you pick a locale you can see links to the restaurant and the menu. You may have difficulty with a group as large as 12..so using that website may only pop up a few places.

I know a lot of American Fodorites have liked Mangos in the shopping center across from JW Marriott. Not for me, but if you have a non-seafood crowd it may work.

Wouldn't this be a LOT simpler if you didn't invade with an army that size? Why not break into groups of 4 or 5 or even fewer. You really don't need to linked at the hip 24/7 -- especially when you are on a tour and are already having EVERY breakfast and lunch together.

janisj as not a Peruvian expert you may not realize that dining in large family groups is quite common, especially on the weekends. A lot of popular restaurants such as Huaca Pucllana also accommodate big tour groups.

It is probably something that is better done via an email or a phone call from the hotel desk rather than online booking.

BTW I do think Huaca Pucllana will let you make that reservation online.

I know tours go to Senorio de Sulco but I wasn't that impressed when I went (5 yeas ago dragged by a private guide since I need one to go to the Poli Collection. Maybe it's better now.)

Oh -- I totally understand that -- I was only in Lima for a few days but saw several large groups. But IMO they are together for a very long time including almost every meal. If they are having problems making reservations for 12 I'd break up. Would give them a chance to try different types of places too. Some may love seafood, some want other things.

I've taken groups as large as 13 (not to Peru) and having a break from each other -- even if only for the odd meal, is often a good thing.

I agree with mlgb, 12 is not an army, especially in Peru where family group eating is the norm and eating in ones and twos is perhaps considered a little weird

Given the requirement "We have 5 young men that eat a ton so it's not necessary a "foodie" trip, although we do want to experience all of Peru's cuisines. " buffet may be the best solution. In Lima the JW Marriott has a terrific weekend buffet ( may even be everyday) covering all types of Peruvian and international cusisine .

Canta Rana in Barranco was our go to place when we rented an apartment there. Consistently good food, wide variety, huge portions and relatively cheap. You would definitely need to book for a group but the English speaking owner is very accommodating.

If you have big eaters, you don't necessarily need a buffet but just need to avoid the trendy restaurants on the lists, most 'normal' places frequented by Peruvian will have enormous portions. This can be an issue if you are eating alone!

Another restaurant that might work for a nonfoodie group is Pardo's (which is a pollo a la brasa chain). The menu does have some nonchicken things including steak. I think their anticuchos (beef heart) are also good. The portions are large.

There is a branch a few blocks from your hotel on Benavides, but you'll find them all over the city. Not trendy but always good when you don't have any idea where else to do. They do takeout as well as take reservations (for the latter you may want to email or ask the hotel desk to call).

Great suggestions! I agree about getting sick of each other hahaha and hopefully for some meals, we will split up. Here are my choices so far:

LIMA - 2 nights
Rigoletta (just 4 of us arrive/non seafood person)
Restaurant Huaca Pucllana (such a cool suggestion, thanks!) Reservation

ARUMBA - 2 nights
Kambu - Reservation
Dinner at Hotel with horse show

Dinner at InkaTerra Machu Pichu (Included with room)

Cusco - 2 nights
Pachapapa (courtesy of the tour)
Nuevo Mundo Draft Bar - hoping to ditch group and go here for a drink then wander

PUNO - 2 nights
Restaurant Tulipans
La Table del' Inca

PARACAS - 2 nights
Restaurant Paracas
Hotel Paracas Pier

We drive back to Lima and our flight doesn't leave until 1 am so I think we will eat at La Casita de Ricardo because of good reviews and close to the airport.

Thanks again!!! I'll report back on our trip.
