Need Advise - Argentina and Uruguay Trip in Early March 2011

My Fiancé and I are going to be traveling to Argentina and Uruguay in early March 2011 for approximately 9 days. There are so many options that I do not know what to do and where to go.

Items of interest are the Iguazu Falls, a Tango show, some time on the beach, seeing some of the interior of Argentina and maybe the Andes.

We don’t have a huge budget, but are not poor either. Like beef, wine, local culture, music, history, exploring (we are athletic).

Please help - Thanks

I believe that you are planning to cover too much in nine days.
I would forget the Andes all together.

I would fly first to Uruguay avoiding the $140 per person Argentine fee, spend in Punta del Este at least two days, Punta del Este is a beautiful exciting beach resort in URuguay, fly from Uruguay to Iguazu I believe Pluna the Uruguayan airliner flys between both destinations.
Spend two days in Iguazu and then fly to Buenos Aires staying there for the rest of your time. In this beautiful city you will have everything in your list, culture, tango Shows good food, wine etc

ALSO you can fly to Montevideo Uruguay, visit Punta del Este and then either fly or take a boat to Buenos Aires. The 140 $fee is applicable only if you arrive to the main airport of Buenos AIRESFROM BUENOS Aires I would buy a package to visit Iguazu which usually are good buys.

We were in Argentina over Christmas and spent 2 1/2 days in Iguazzu Fall and loved it, then spend 6 days in Buenos aires. We felt that 6 days was probably one day too long. We travel extensively (Flight attendant for 25 years!) So I would suggest going to the falls, then buenos Aires, then one more location...Mendoza, Salta...or you could just do a few day trips and center yourself around BA, like the Tigre and Uruguay.

I vote for Tigre it is very nice, VERY, and from there you can take the cheapest but very nice trip to Carmelo Uruguay and from there on to Punta or whatever.
Try http://cacciolaviajes.com/frame.php
this is a lovely trip in a nice catamaran from the Delta to Carmelo. Tigre is very close to downtown Bs As , halfhour or so.

Appreciate the advice. We have set nothing in stone and are still researching options, including places to stay, eat, and experience.

Could someone provide some recommendations for places to stay, eat, and experience in the following locations:

Puerto Iguassu
Buenos Aires
Puerto Madryn
El Calafate

Thank you!
