Mendoza

Does anyone know the approximate cost of a taxi from the bus station in Mendoza to our hotel - Aconcagua Hotel And Conv Centre San Lorenzo 545, Mendoza 5500? I booked the hotel from the Fodor's site with Hotels for Everyone. When I emailed customer service, they told me to get in touch with the hotel directly. They only gave me a phone number as apparerently the hotel doesn't have an email address! I don't speak Spanish well enough to phone. Please help!

We walked to our Hostal (Hostel Lao) from the bus station which is in the centre of the city in around 10 mins. and I believe that your hotel is in the same sort of location (i.e. close to the main plaza. Taxis are cheap and so should not cost more than a few dollars. Check goole maps for exact locations and distance. As always use metered cabs and beware of touts at the bus stations.

Taxis are not that expensive. Why did you choose hotel Acongagua, we stayed there some time ago and thought they were absolutly crazy to say it is a four stars hotel. Rooms are so small, and nothing is nice. There are many new hotels that I am sure are much better.
Check more.

You can check maps of Mendoza in the internet and figure out the distance between two points.
Let me clarify when we had the bad idea to stay in the Aconcagua Hotel there were not as many new hotels as there are at the present time. There is a long list in the best internet providers such as orbitz, etc

Thank you all for your responses, very helpful as always. The Aconcagua looked good on their website, the ratings on several sites were fine (aside from the small rooms) and the location was very central, so that was why I booked it. It is so hard to judge from photos and even responses as sometimes one person will praise it and the next will think it was awful. I actually prefer smaller places or apartment rentals instead of big hotels, but we are only in Mendoza for 3 nights on route from BA to Valparaiso. We are taking the highway buses to travel, so location was really important as we don't have a car. Thanks again for the help. I'll post my trip experiences when we return to Canada at the end of the month.
