Machu Picchu Tickets - help!
I've tried multiple times now to purchase tickets for Machu Picchu. Entrance + Montana Machu Picchu. My Visa is Verified, and I called them to have them let all transactions in Peru go through.
Each time, it says "Operation Denied". I wrote the Call Center, and they said:
"We are sorry but we have problems with Visa in Perú, is better if you contact to them [email protected] or jchang@visanet.
Do not worry If you are planing visit only Machupicchu (the City of Machupicchu) don`t worry, we have many tickets you can buy your tickets, here in Cusco with 1 month in advance, if you want to visit Machupicchu and Huaynapicchu you can buy your tickets with 2 month in advance."
I wrote the address they gave me but have received no response in a week. Buying tickets in Cusco a month in advance is not an option. I read on Trip Advisor that you have to buy the tickets online.
What are my options? Would our hotel in Cusco be able to purchase the tickets for us? We're using Percy as our guide for a few days - would he be able to buy them?
This is starting to stress me out... your advice is appreciated!

Have you tried a different credit card? There are reports on TA that if a card has been declimed multiple times it seems to be blocked but another card (verified in advance) might work.
If you are hiking the Inca Trail why not ask your company to add it to your IT package.

We only have the one Visa which is Verified. Verification "isn't available at this time" for my husband's Visa, and then we use an AmEx for most things.
Good idea to ask our Inca Trail operator... I'm waiting to hear back from Percy first, but I'll try them if he can't!

I've been there several times with student groups. The guide always takes care of our tickets for MaPi and the train. This is one time when you don't want to screw it up. (not suggesting you will) But they are unforgiving. There's no office with a supervisor who can "fix" your mistake.
For sure, you should ask your guide. They all know how to get those tickets!
