I am having a hard time purchasing tickets to Machu Picchu on the machupicchu.gob.pe website, first of all does it only allow 5 tickets to be purchased at one time? Also it seems that they are not accepting Visa payments as it is down for maintenance. We are going to be there March 4th and 5th, from what I understand there are over 2000 tickets still available. Is this correct? Should I worry, or buy them once we get to Peru? Any help will be appreciated.

Not sure about the website but I would still try as it would be a guarantee. Perhaps try another cc. When we went our guide service provided tickets for one of our days and we bought tickets easy enough at the office in AC for the other day. The wonky thing is you buy the admission tickets at one place and have to go to a completely different office to buy bus tickets.
The website is not functioning at this time for online purchases. But you can track the number of remaining tickets online and see that there is no issue with availability. There are thousands for your date.

The bus tickets are bought at a little kiosk next to where the bus leaves from, not really an
If you are not going to be hiking Huayna Picchu there is no reason to be panicked into buying tickets ahead of time. Just fine to do them the days of your visit, especially in low season when there is still a possibility of bad weather.
Indeed not much of bus office, I think more of a window. Neat ride in the bus up the mountain.
