Machu Picchu changes its entry schedule

Dear Travelers,

For those planning to visit Machu Picchu from July 2017, you must know that local authorities have set new regulations for visiting the Inca citadel.
Up until know, we were able to buy our tickets for a specific date, no matter how long we stayed inside. However now, things have changed, there will be 2 scheduled times for visiting Machu Picchu. You'll be able to buy your entrance ticket either for the 1st group (6am - 12pm) or the second (12pm - 5h30pm).
For further info, you could read this article. https://goo.gl/SYvkrE

Please note that all of the information on the above guide's websites may not be correct.

IE the advisory on the official website (machupicchu.gob.pe) does NOT indicate that a tour guide will be required, although there has been some discussion of this in the path.

At the moment it appears that one can only enter in one of two shifts, but it is not clear that morning entrants must exit before noon.

Expect further clarifications this month. Tickets for dates in July are supposed to be available beginning June 1.

Be sure to consult multiple sources before planning trips from July and beyond.

Thanks Ramiro. Have some friends who are going next summer, so it's good to have this info. Like mlgb, I did not see any reference on the official site to the need to have a guide.

You are correct, the reference was on Ramiro's website. I haven't looked again to see if he corrected it. It was something posted in some early proposals, but I've read that there aren't enough guides to implement that policy.
