Machu Picchu and Galapagos

Jump to last reply

I am in the early planning stage for a family trip to Machu Picchu and the Galapagos. My wife and I are in our early 50's and we will be traveling with our two daughters (early 20's). We enjoy active vacations (hiking, kayaking, snorkeling) and plan to travel from Houston in late May or early June 2011.

We are assuming two weeks for the entire trip and our initial thought is to visit Machu Picchu first (Houston, Lima, Cusco, Manchu Picchu) and then fly to Quito and on to the Galapagos, thinking that the cruise will be less active than the Manchu Picchu visit and a nice way to relax before returning home. Does this reasoning make sense, and have we allocated enough time for both locations?

For the Galapagos, we are considering a five day cruise on the ARCHIPEL I. We found the boat on line through, and would like any advice on this boat and booking company from those of you that may have used them in the past.
