I'm a bit confused, I'm wanting to fly from Lima to Iguazu falls and then on the Buenos Aires. Is it possible to fly into the airport in Brazil and out of the airport on the Argentinian side?
I was thinking of staying a couple of nights at La Cantera Jungle Lodge, Argentina side, will that be easy to get to upon arrival? Thanks.

It takes about 40 minutes to cross the border from Brazil to Argentina, if going from town to town. The airport is between the town and the park entrance. (this goes for both sides, both airports)
If you have the proper visa and reciprocity fee (or don't need them) for each of the two countries, why could you not fly into one airport and out of the other?

That hotel is located between the IGR airport and the town of Puerto Iguazu. Taxi or take the bus.

When we were there in 2008 they seemed very lax on border controls. If it was just A day trip to Foz from Puerto Iguazu most people were just gong through on the bus without stopping at either immigration post. Illegal no doubt, but no one seemed to care. Whether things have changed I know not. We went once with and once without stopping. But have UK passports so didn't have to pay the reciprocity fee anyway.

As mentioned above, it is afarly easy journey but does involve a change of bus.

Kazza3013 is talking about entering Brazil on a flight from another country. At the arrival airport in Brazil, and perhaps even before being allowed to board the flight at the departure airport, the visa would need to be displayed.
Please do not confuse the issue by citing an entirely different scenario, which may itself not be reliable advice at all times. Every passenger on every bus may not be checked every crossing, but it is your legal responsibility to comply with the law (not theirs) and there can be consequences if you do not. (and there have been reports of this on forums, including large fines, even those wherein the traveler expressed indignation that he was caught)

Also, I suspect the difference in fares from Lima to IGU vs. IGR may more than cover the cost of the Brazilian visa.

And the best panoramic photos of the falls are IMO from the Brazilian side, so even if going directly from IGU to a hotel on the Argentine side, OP would want to cross back to see the Brazilian side of the park.

"Alternative" to what? The OP has stated that s/he intends to enter Brazil at the IGU airport. (There is a direct flight from Lima into IGU, not IGR, afaik.) A Brazilian visa must be presented at immigration on arrival, and most probably to board the flight.

Sorry if you felt offended. Feel free to post all the unrelated anecdotes you wish, on "the facts" as you experienced them. (with or without my express direction, or capacity or lack thereof to appreciate their value fully in entirely different circumstances. My two decades of regular travel all over Brazil, including more than once to this destination and guiding/advising many other visitors visiting there, should logically not outweigh your personal experience on one bus crossing one border one time at a specific location.)
Perhaps best for us both not to further confuse an OP who already states he is confused though.
