I contacted an apartment listing on Criagslist and the person wanted me to send 20% of the payment via Western Union to secure the place. I have never had to send money via WEster Union to book a place, but again, I have never rented an apartment, just stayed hotels. I am reluctant to send it to someone I don't know. It's not that much money so much, but I don't want to arrive at BA, and stuck in BA with no place to stay
Can someone look at hte website below and see if they are familiar with the company or location? The company says they dont' take credit card.
The apartment idea sounds good, because 1. I am having trouble finding a hotel for 5 days(under 100), and it is much more affordable than a hotel

I've had to send money via Western Union last year to a place in Mexico. It was fine. Now that doesn't mean that this particular place is legit, but it was ok in my case.
Thanks Susan. It's good to know that someone else had used this method, even if I am still not sure if it is legit.
Not sure if I should go for it
why not be upfront about your concerns - just be polite about it - it is the internet afterall - I would guess they would understand and would take steps to show you their legitamacy. I had to send a check to an account in San Francisco for a hotel in Patzcuaro, Mexico for the entire week for New Year's last year - was I a typical parnoid NYer, yes - I had no reason to be. An apartment is a different matter - they need to takes steps to assure you their honest.
I booked an apartment in Buenos Aires via www.bytargentina.com, for $190 for one week and they only asked for a credit card # to secure a reservation and once we arrive there, we have to pay the $190 plus $200 refundable sec deposite . If you like check the web site, there are still many apartments available in all areas. I am hoping that it will work for my family.I booked with them since few people posted that they were happy with them and the apartment is located in an excellent place for only $190 for the week compare to $230 a night I was going to pay for a family of three. Good luck.
