Thinking about a few days in Punta Ballena from Buenos Aires in June. Is that a good time to go and is it too cold to go to the beach.

Yes it is too cold for the beach. definetly no swimming .
I haven't been during Winter in Punta Ballena, or in the greater Punta del Este area for years.
however I can tell you that The winter school vacations take place sometime in July, so during those days there is more things going on. There might be a show at the Conrand Hotel Casino, but I am not sure.Presently there is a group of people that
live all year in Punta, composed by Europeans, Uruguayans and others.
Surely there will be some restaurants opened in June, more during week ends, tennis courts, the golf club, fishing....but no swimming, it is cold in Winter. It will be less active than July and many times quiter
than during High Season.
Sometimes days can be sunny and beautiful during Winter, you can enjoy having the place to yourselves.
What about whale watching, seals and penguin viewing.
I would double check, I do not think you can watch whales etc everyday in Punta....Winter or no Winter...
