Iguazu Falls for a single woman?

I will be in Buenos Aires in early October and am trying to decide whether to go to Iguazu Falls afterwards. My husband is not coming, so I am wondering whether it would be safe and enjoyable as a single woman there. If I do go, would it be best to stay in the Sheraton in the park? Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome!

I'd say the Sheraton is definitely your best alternative, as it is the only hotel INSIDE the park.

Have a great time in my country.

Thank you. I read that a lot of the hiking trails in the park are still closed from the floods last month. Do you know if these areas will be open by early October?

I don't have an answer, but your visit is still 2 and a half months away, which gives more than enough time for the water to come down and any necessary repairs to be made in the trails.

Have a great time in my country.

jat: I noticed you have asked just about the same question on TA: http://tinyurl.com/p2pvzbq

One reply, so far. We'll see what other posters out there have to say.

I am an older female, and I had no issues with visiting Iguazu solo. I would not stay in the park, as you are basically stuck there. You will have more and better options for meals in town, and the bus system is fine. I stayed here - http://www.lasorgentehotel.com/en/home.html - but there are many options.

Are you visiting both sides?

Thank you for the hotel suggestion-I will check it out. I am trying to decide whether it is worth the cost of getting the Brazil visa necessary to visit the Brazil side-I know a lot of people say it is worth it, but it does seem like a lot of money for just a few hours seeing the falls from a different perspective.

You may make it to Brazil without a visa if you're willing to risk not getting in. See my experience: http://mytimetotravel.wordpress.com/...y-spectacular/

There is a certain risk, as said above, but I understand that, particularly if you go with some kind of tour, you don't really need a visa to visit the Brazilian side.

Have a great time in my country, jat.

Thank you, thursdaysd-I enjoyed your blog and photos! I am not so much a risk taker, but $160 plus the hassle of getting a visa is making me wonder whether it is really worth it to go to the Brazil side.
