Hotel Suggestions Buenos Aires La Recoleta

Hi Fodorites...looking for hotel suggestions for end of February...we are 50's and early 60's going to Buenos Aires with friends for the first time. I hear La Recoleta is a good area to be in. We like cafe's close by, etc. and are looking at no more than about $350 a night. Any ideas?

Hi, mikster!

U$S 350 converted into pesos at the blue market rate (I assume you know what I am talking about) would go a very long way in BA, at this writing.

Suggestions, in the heart of the Recoleta:

which gets great reviews, or even the top-of-the-line

I have friends at the Alvear, which means I can help you A LOT there, such as upgrade, early check-in, that kind of thing, obviously subject to availability.

Anything else I can do for you?

Obviously, I assumed you meant $ 350 per night, per room.

Have a great time in my country.

If so inclined, write to me to albertovgalloATyahoo.com

It could still be rather warm in BA, in late Feb. How many days are you planning to stay in Argentina?

Do your friends still want to visit our South? Late Feb. is a great time to go there and it will be cooler down there than in BA.

Look at the hotel in our South, owned by the same group who owns the Alvear:

Have a great time in my country.

The Alvear is my favorite hotel in Buenos Aires, too. But it is pricey for many travelers. Another of my favorites in La Recoleta is the Melia Recoleta ( same exact location ) and there are several other really nice, boutique hotels, such as the Etoile. For an apart hotel with kitchen facilities, the Loi Suites is quite nice.
