Due to the time we arrive into Santiago I have a choice of waiting a night or getting a helicopter transfer from the airport which only takes fifteen minutes. Has anyone taken it ? Its expensive but there will be six of us.

Marko,
Taking a Helicopter from the airport to Vallenevado will be very expensive. Furthermore, the ones I know about http://www.vallenevado.com/en/flights-ski-resorts/
which should be quite trustworthy, are for 6 without luggage. So im not sure if this will work for you.
The trip from the airport to Valle nevado by private transfer should take no more than 2 hours and should cost nothing compared to the heli trip.
thanks Allesandro, there will be six of us, so the cost is shared. I have heard that its a real experience!!!
