Has anyone done the full moon tour at Iguazu Falls?

I see that the full moon tour at Iguazu Falls is being offered when we are visiting? Has anyone done it and what has been there experience? What time is the best to go-before dinner, after dinner? Any info about your experience would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Itsv,

You are very lucky to be going to the falls, it really is amagical place...

We did do the moonligh tour which was nice enough and not expensive at all, remember to bring a jacket as the train ride gets pretty chilly. We did one of the earliest rides, don't remember exactly which.

Since you will be in the area,I would *strongly* recommend visiting the bird park which is on the brazilian side, it was one of the hilights of our trip to Iguazu.

Also [it's all coming back now] we had a fantastic and moderately priced dinner at a place called Aqua which is in the small town of Iguazu, highly recommended.

Have fun If we weren't leaving for Ecuador ina couple of months I'd be green with jealousy

Yes - I just did it for January full moon. It is easy to get tickets while you are there. You will see the posters advertising them when you are at the falls. You can also book it from the bus terminal in Peurto Iguazu.
The cost is 120 pesos without dinner, 160 with dinner.
The public bus is 10 pesos return.
We did the 8.30 walk and it was the perfect timing - some brightness while entering the park but dark when up at the top. Amazing experience. Be warned, you will get wet !! We had dinner beforehand but the restaurant does not start dinner until 8pm so we were a little rushed.
If we had waiting until afterwards for dinner we would have missed the last bus back.
You may be able to arrange it as a tour with your hotel with transport included which would mean less of a rush !!

Yes, I did the walk. One of the posters here recommended it, and it was an excellent idea. Be sure to wear mosquito repellent. It can get a little chilly at night (at least the night I did it), in comparison to the day. I think we did the 9:30 walk in April. That allowed sufficient time for dinner, which was pretty good.

So if we are staying at the Sheraton, do you have to worry about the bus? I am a little confused about the Sheraton-it is inside the park correct? so we would just walk back to the hotel from the tour?

WillTravel-we are thinking about the 9:30 tour also because I know my children will enjoy the experience better having eaten dinner before hand, was the moonlight still good on the later tour? I know some people have posted that the earlier tour was better for moonlight but the dinner is the issue.

Shellie13 and denisious thanks for the reccommendations. We are celebrating my 50th bday with an almost month long trip to South America so having things like the moonlight tour will make it even more special. We will try that restaurant.

Also please forgive the grammar in my original posting. i must have been doing two things at once.

itsv, to my friend and me the timing seemed perfect, partly because everything was perfectly clear then. That is something to consider - the walk can be cancelled if it's not clear enough. My friend has some great night-time pictures. We did this April 8, 2009, I think.
