Galapagos cruise - how to pick

I am planning a solo trip to the Galapagos in September. My wife can't join me and so I want to treat this trip as a sampler, with the intention of going the whole hog when I am able to go with her in a few years.

I would like to find out if 5-nights/4 days cruises might be available on a reputable vessel/company for between $1,500 and $2000. Do some tour operators waive the single supplement?

I would much appreciate any suggestions you all might have.
