Food and Futbol in Buenos Aires

Jump to last reply Flag this topic

I'm trying to plan my 7 night trip in Buenos Aires next week, we're in Palermo and staying in an apt Soler/Gurruchaga .

Thu: arrive apt 10:30 pm (Estillio Criollo)
Fri: La Boca, Plaza de Mayo, factory stop (Cabrera)
Sa: Palermo Parks, museums, shopping, dancing(Janganda)
Su: San Telmo market, Boca game in evening, (Nemo)
M: Daytrip to Colonia (some peruvian place)
          Tu shopping, Recoleta cemetary, (Cluny)

lunches/snacks: Guidos, La Cupertina, El Preferido de Palermo, Palio pizza, Campo dei Fiore, cafes, gelato, etc.

First, is it a good idea to check out a game Sunday night -- we've been told to book in more expensive seats as the cheaper ones get rowdy. Rowdy sounds fun but getting trampled doesn't. I'm going to ask a friend to order some tickets for us.

Second, any comments on places we're eating? Did i list a place you hate or miss a place you love? I imagine we're going to be very tired evening we arrive and would love a low-key, comforting restaurant with great food that's close to the apt.

          Any comments welcome!

La Cabrera ? back in Palermo ..for dinner? You could probably have a bite at Cafe Tortoni when you are in the area of Plaza de Mayo and Casa Rosada
Sa: Palermo Parks, museums, shopping, dancing(Janganda) I don't know this place but which parks? if you are around the zoo, the Evita Museum is around the corner on La Finur and has a wonderful cafe where you can sit outside in the garden or inside, the food is just great! and the museum is really worth a walk through .. interesting, very pretty ( in an old mansion) and the music is great
Su: San Telmo market, Boca game in evening, (Nemo) lunch in San Telmo - Amici Miei if you want a beautiful Italian restaurant overlooking Dorrego Square..or Desnivel or farther down on Defensa and Mexico is Brasserie Petanque that is a great lunch place!
M: Daytrip to Colonia (some peruvian place)
Tu: shopping, Recoleta cemetary, (Cluny) Since you will be in Recoleta, will you want to eat there too? I really like Cluny, but more for lunch and just drinks with friends. I would take advantage of being in Recoleta and have a meal at Rodi Bar.. you will just be a couple of blocks away while at the Cemetery .. it is at the corner of Vicente Lopez & Ayacucho.

lunches/snacks: Guidos, La Cupertina, El Preferido de Palermo, Palio pizza, Campo dei Fiore, cafes, gelato, etc. Guidos Bar on Rep de India? another place that is great for dinner. If you want good pizza, try to get to Filo , in Recoleta also is a place called Melo on Pacheco de Melo which is very good, casual, neighborhood place...

          • Thanks so much miss scarlett -- this is exactly the info that's helpful (dining in area we're already at, etc.) Yes, all the restaurants in parenthesis are for dinner -- I assumed that if we're eating as late as 9-10 pm that we'd back in Palermo at the apt by then?

You're always *so* polite and discreet -- please do tell me if you don't like particular places/ideas I've listed -- won't be offended but grateful for your opinion.
