We will take cruise line trip from Valparaicio, Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our group -8 people decided to make separate arrangement for excursions, more private. I contacted several agencies, asking to help us. We are talking about 9 excursions altogether. As soon as they getting idea, we are from cruise, they don't want to continue with us or elevating prices at least 2-3 times from what they advertize on their web site.
Is this some silent agreement between tour agencies and cruise lines.

Hi Govacgo.
We're also taking a cruise from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires. You should check out Cruise Critic for the Roll Call for your departure (ours is Celebrity 1/15/12). Others may be planning private tours in the various ports that you are interested in.
My criteria for the tours that I arranged were to select tour guides that other people had recommended, and to only use guides that required no deposit. We also looked for reasonable costs.
You can email me at: GoneTravelin2@aol.com for more information. If you're going on different dates, I can send you a list of guides that we've hired.
I won't be able to get back to you for around a week, though, since we leave tomorrow for Disneyland.
Hi Sandys,
Looks like we are taken the same cruise, Celebrity 1/15/12. I'll email you tomorrow, in mean time enjoy Disneyland.
Since we're on the same cruise, my list won't help you, since the tour guides that we're using are already booked - by us.
Why don't you join our Roll Call on Cruise Critic. There are lots of people arranging private tours that are not yet filled.
Always do better down there with private driver/guides
boots on the ground from $35-50 per half day.
latinamericaforless.com are the best online providers
but prices ALWAYS much higher.
MANY on line scammers so be careful pay with CC only
NEVER wire money and insuremytrip.com independently
cheap wise insurance offered by cruise lines are a sham
do not provide comp cover and expensive for what you get.
cruisecritic.com for best info.
I registered on Cruise Critic today and posted my message. By reading what they posting, didn't see any messages about private tour guides they used for shore excursions.
