Trip Report Ecuador trip report

Just returned from great one month trip to Ecuador, our second visit having been there 13 years ago. One week in Galapagos - could not have been better! 16-person boat, but we were only 11 plus fabulous guide. (This was thru Mt Travel/Sobek.)
4 nights at Sacha Lodge in the Amazon - also great guide which makes a big difference.
5 nights at Black Sheep Inn (3 1/2 hours south of Quito.) We had been there on our previous trip and just had to return! As wonderful as we remembered! Lots of hiking, sitting around talking to interesting people, great vegetarian food, hot tub & sauna (especially nice as it was quite cool and rainy.)
3 nights at Hacienda Cusin - as beautiful (or even more) as when we were there years ago. Did some hiking, horseback riding, bus to Otavalo.
4 nights at El Refugio Cloud Forest in Intag - north of Otavalo. A real highlight of the trip! Long drive from Otavalo (can be done by bus or driver from El Refugio, which is what we did. A birdwatcher's paradise - even for nonserious birdwatchers like us. Beautiful, quiet, great accommodations, fantastic food, wonderful helpful people! What a great way to end our trip!
Flew home from new airport - which was not as bad as we expected!
