Trip Report Ecuador car rental

I had a bad experience with Hertz in Ecuador.
Before I completed my car reservation, I spent an entire day trying to call Hertz and asking questions about any problems I would encounter in Ecuador as I previously on another vacation had a prepaid vacation rental car company in Costa Rica demand a blank credit card voucher. I was assured by the only lady that I could talk to that I would have no problem.
I had refused daily car insurance on my reservation as I carried Amex Premium which pays from the first dollar to $100K for $25 for the week, rather than $67 for $10K with a $1000 deductible. I was given a price for the week by Hertz without the insurance on line.
AT 9 PM IN A QUITO, ECUADOR HERTZ DEMANDED A CASH DEPOSIT ON MY CARD OF $4000 OR I COULDN'T HAVE THE CAR.
