Easter Island, rent a car or tour?

I am a little worried I won't be able to keep up with the pace of a tour group and may be rushed at the sights in Easter Island if I join a tour. If I rent a car is it easy to get around with a map or easy to get lost? I mean, are the roads signposted well. Is parking on the island easy? I only have two days, three nights on Easter island so I want to see the sigths within this time. I don't want to spend time on the beaches.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

Nothing moves very fast on the island! I recommend at least one tour so you get a general understanding of what you are seeing. Most lodging can arrange a tour for you, private if you want.

Thank you Huentetu. A private tour is a good suggestion I forgot to mention in my op that the private tours I've checked are US$280 - US$300 per day. I find that too expensive for a solo traveller, I will need two days of sightseeing and that'll cost a lot.

Do fodorites have any recommendations for a tour company in Easter Island that can provide a private tour which is good and reasonably priced?

Don't look for tours online. Arrange something when you get there. Unless you are staying in one of the two most expensive hotels, most lodging finds you a car and driver for much less.

I think tour is the best option because it is one time payment after that they are giving all the services, So it included accommodation rates, meal, transportation and many more.
