Departure tax from Buenos Aires airport

The last time we were in BsAs the departure tax at the airport was $18.00. I was unaware it had changed until today, when a poster on Cruise Critic brought to my attention it is now $29.00 and could possibly be included in our airline tickets. I tried several sources, trying to verify this without much success. I found fees from $18.00 up to $65.00.

Does anyone here know what the current departure tax is? Would like to have this information nailed down before we leave.

be grateful you are not entering another $135 now.

So things could be worse

Thanks for the info qv! But we are getting it at both ends anyway, as we're entering SA at Santiago, Chile ($131.00pp). We apparently will save $8.00. We promise not to splurge on our savings.

I know it is a lot, but airport taxes are universal as far as I know and usually higher than the
$29 now charged. Usually they are included and as we say in Spanish
ojos que no ven corazon que no siente, meaning if your eyes do not see it your heart does not feel it...
The entrance fee will be a reality and that of course is not Universally charged. Some countries request a visa for different reasons which has to be paid. But for me it is different the entrance fee seems to respond only to the greedy need of the country who charges it.
Which of course responds to the policy of the Argentine Government to be generous with entlitements of all sorts, does it not pay to people, for doing nothing? I might be wrong
.... maybe they do not pay for doing nothing, or may I am wrong to say this.

When we departed EZE in October 2009 we had to pay a departure tax. We were told that the tax has been included in fares on tickets sold since April 2009. Because we booked in October 2008 (to get frequent flyer biz class) we had to pay cash at the airport.

actually the EZE entry cost

should have been $131 not $135 my bad above

exactly the same as Chile charges

exactly what it costs to simply APPLY for a US Visa

good for multiple entries for 10 years so $13.10 per year.

Does not hurt as bad to look at that way.

There goes our $8.00 savings. LOL I'm not really complaining about these charges, just want to know in advance what we need where, so we can have the cash ready and get on with our airport arrival/departure.

We've never been to Chile, but did visit BsAs four years ago and it was love at first sight! Really looking forward to staying there again. We've booked the same hotel, where we were very comfortable, so will know our way around at least a bit.

Still haven't found out if the EZE departure tax is included in our tickets. Guess we'll give American a call to find out. We're traveling American/LAN. Will post again when we have the answer.

Home again, after a really spectacular three weeks. We had the cash ready for the departure tax just in case, but didn't need it as the $29.00 pp was indeed included in our tickets.

Now that exit tax from Ezeiza is $29 they include it in the ticket. At least American did when a recently bought a ticket in the US.
There are fees all over,Buenos AIre Port fees when going to Colonia or Montevideo, only a few dollars, included in the ticket and there iare port fees in the Port of Colonia and Montevideo usually not included in the ticket, again it is a very small amount only a few dollars. There are exit fees in Aeroparque going to Uruguay but it is much smaller if you go to neighbor country than to a far away country and again they charge fees in the AIrports in URuguay. Sounds horrible but actually there are similar fees larger and smaller all over the world in all ports and airports.
In Uruguay THANKS GOD there is no entrance fee.

Im reading $29 tax in this forum...., i dont know what tax is the one that im talking about , but i heard through friends and family that u have to pay $100 american dollars now, when before it was $50 when i went there 5 years ago.We travel from Buenos Aires to Uruguay.

I think is a rip off. Because the tickets already are close $3000 and they usually tell u in the agencies that all taxes are included and when u get there ... they charge u for more. I dont know where all that money is going for, coz all the service in southamerican planes still the same.
I go there because my family and friends are there, but if i was a tourist i dont think i would come back unless i was a rich person.
Dont get me wrong i think South America is a beautiful continent, but there are other beautiful places as well that are a lot cheaper.
A ticket to Uruguay costs twice as much as going to Los Angeles, US.
I just want the best for south american countries, i think they have a lot to offer.

There seems to be the usual confusion here about the airport tax vs the reciprocity fee and they are two different things.
Everyone pays the US$29 airport tax. Everyone. It is usually included in the price of your ticket along with any other taxes which may apply where you bought your ticket.
The reciprocity fee is collected (at Ezeiza only) for US, Canadian and Australian citizens arriving on an international flight. The amount and duration of validity varies for different nationalities. It is currently US$140 for US citizens as the US recently raised the application for a visa fee to that amount. In Chile I don't think they have raised it yet but they will as it always reflects what Chileans are charged for visas or visa applications. It is US$131 but will go up eventually.
This is not a tax as it does not apply to everyone but only specific nationalities. It is a reciprocity fee.

New forum member Shulie's post is not too clear, at best.

One obvious example: Shulie's "the tickets already are close $3000" doesn't clearly indicate from where to where.

Have a great time in our country.

As noted, I posted this after our trip in January 2010, and the fee was included in our tickets. We flew LAN/American to SFO. I guess you could call Continental and ask them if they include the fee. I think they probably do.

Koala - your departure fee of $29 will be included in your Continental ticket, but not your reciprocity fee of $140 per person upon flying into EZE. That can be paid in USD or credit card and is not included in your ticket.
